Stair and Rail Finishing

At Southeastern Stair we also finish our stairs and railing. We are one of the only full service stair companies who offer this. We believe it is much easier and less stressful to deal with one contractor from start to finish then deal with several different contractors. When you deal with several contractors they tend to "pass the buck" and point fingers when it comes to problems. They will blame each other and give you the run around which never gets the job done correctly. So at Southeastern Stair Company we pride ourselves on finishing the parts perfectly the first time.
Staining
We will prestain parts so the stairs can be walked on the same day we install them. No more waiting for the finish to dry. This is another distinct advantage we have over our competitors. By prestaining the parts the finish comes out perfectly smooth with no dust as though it came from a factory. When we get done the stairs will look as good or even better then a fine piece of furniture. When we stain we make sure each part is hand sanded with the grain to ensure an even scratch free finish. Other contractors leave behind swirl marks from their sanders which cause unsightly scratches that can ruin a good installation. By prestaining the parts we must make sure each cut is perfect. We pride ourselves on how tight our joints are. We also use only the richest oil based stains by Minwax and Varathane. If you need a custom stain color then we rely on Sherwin Williams to mix us a custom color which will come with a formula so if you ever need more then you can just get more mixed as per the formula. Other contractors just guesstimate and usually don't get the color close. For the final top caot finish we like to use Varathanes Premium oil based polyurethane. With it's patented Aluminum Oxide Nano Technology it outperforms leading national brands with superior scuff and scratch resistance. With it's self-leveling formula it eliminates brush marks and stands up to years of use. We never use water based polyurethane which will never stand up to normal wear. Most water based cans even say don't use on high traffic areas. Stairs are the highest of traffic areas. Be wary of contractors who want to use any water based polyurethane.
Painting
We also paint materials like risers and skirt boards that need to be finished. We recommend using Valspars new High Def Signature Series interior latex enamel water based paint for most trim. Or if you prefer oil based paint we like Sherwin Williams Pro Classic semi-gloss. We will use any paint though in order to match your existing paint. We can even use an oil based paint upon request. We take our time and when we get done you will have perfectly straight paint lines. We stand behind each finish with a full 1 year warranty.
